Site Host's Review:
Yes, Sopranos is not what it used to be. But I don't think it was a surprise to anyone. The premiere episode (Sunday, April 8th) of the Season 6 Part 2, its final season, drew 7.7 million viewers. According to Nielsen Media Research, this number is down 19% from the premier of the Season 6 Part 1.
As a standalone episode I think it was pretty good. As I am grading this season, I will not factor in the first 3 seasons of the show, which in my opinion are absolutely perfect, and only compare it to everything from Season 4 on. So using this very scientific formula, the premier was pretty balanced. Carmela's statement that Tony is not a vengeful person kind of underlined the whole thing. I am very curious to see how Bobby will handle popping his cherry. Will he blame Tony for forcing him into it or will he accept it as part of the life he chose? I also hope that they will not focus that much on kids in the last few episodes. I honestly do not care about AJ's relationship. The show must end like it started. Besides Tony, I want to see how Chris, Pauly, Silvio and Uncle Junior will turn out. They are such strong characters and deserve to go out in stile. I don't want them to be overlooked because AJ's girlfriend storyline needs to be developed. Being that there are only few episodes in this FINAL season, they better not drag this sh*t out!

Visitor Opinions:
Id like to mention some things before I proceed into the thoughts and oppinions I have on the newest episode of sopranos. I would like to say that some of the people that respond in this forum have totally lost grasp with what a television program is. Just a little definition from my own words..... A television program is an escape from reality, and stories that resemble a reality that is out of reach for most people, to offer an esacape from there own. NOW..... to all the people who our culture saved from natural selection, and lived to write ridiculous things in forums on the internet in the attempt to try to make people feel bad... ("The Sopranos and other like films are nothing other than hate speech and bigotry. If these people, who are actually of Italian ancestry, knew the harm that they do to Italian Americans, especially ...") Id like to point out that watching these little stories gives the people that are mature enough to handle it, a little escape from there crappy jobs, wives and girlfriends, annoying nieghbors, and equally annoying friends. I can see that the annoying friends end up in posting ALOT and thinking a little.
Now on to the newest episodes of sopranos. If i wanted to watch a rich fatman and his wife bitch constantly about menial bullshit then this show would be right up my alley. I thought I was going to puke watching this show. Oh ive watched sopranos from the beggining, and stomached a lot of over dramatic acting on the part of some hammy actors trying to justify there extremely large paychecks, but this has to be the absolute worst.
I have to ask why anyone would like this garbage if they like the first 4 seasons. It just doesnt seem very consistent in my book. I think perhaps theres a different following of the show now then before, the same people probobly arent watching it. Maybe its attracting more of a croud that is into the "view" or "oprah" and hell, following it up with "big love" or "onterage"(sp.... i dont watch the fricken show or do i spell it on a regular basis) but it isnt what I would call much of a mafia show anymore.
It is fun watching shows based on the mafia. It is an entirely different clulture and you can make many internesting stories about that kind of a lifestyle. What people have to understand, is that they are stories. There supposed to be gritty, entertaining, realistic, and very opposite of real life in some aspects. What we are seeing in sopranos in this season is boring, redundant bullshit. to anylize a simple monopoly game to that degree is not only frustrating but tenacious. I am speaking of the idiots that stick up for the last episode of course.
Well, ive stood on my soap box. on closing i would like to point out that I am not some mindless idiot that wants television to just show me pretty colors and sounds. I love a good story. But what better story is tragedy or comedy (technically the same). Not chatter and bitching. Its not that i need to see someone die every 10 seconds on the show, but I would like a real story and not something they expect me to overanalyze. I would much prefer a gripping plot that if i DID overanalyze, that i would find much much more meaning and appreciation of. I would like to state that this and the whole last season of sopranos truly is not worthy of my watching or commenting on, but i do so because of the wonderfull episodes they did produce. long live rome (well its dead but long live it to hell anyway.)
